A young woman, Polly, falls victim to her mother, Esther’s, abuse. In rural Canada, Polly and Esther mourn the recent loss of Polly’s father. Polly’s father had been a sailor, and the community feels his absence. As news of his death trickles throughout the neighbourhood, friends and family begin to demand answers.
